Project Summary
Veduta Display is a typeface designed from scratch over the course of a semester. The concept takes blackletter, a medieval script tradition dating back to 12th century Western Europe, and transposes its structural qualities into a sharp, futuristic geometric framework.
Rather than treating the historical reference as decoration, the project asks what that ancient letterform language would look like if it were rebuilt from scratch under strict contemporary rules.
Every letter is constrained to a geometric grid, with 45-degree angles repeated consistently across shapes and apexes throughout the full glyph set. The project was completed with a downloadable OTF file, an accompanying EULA, and a poster.
